Official skill mapping
Each item is tagged to a Reading and Writing or Math domain and a specific skill used by the current SAT Suite framework.
SATprep.io uses original proprietary questions aligned to the publicly documented SAT Suite skill structure. Official College Board materials are used as a specification and quality benchmark, not as text to scrape and republish.
Each item is tagged to a Reading and Writing or Math domain and a specific skill used by the current SAT Suite framework.
Items carry difficulty and test-eligibility metadata so the system can avoid using material that does not fit the learner's target assessment.
Practice items require a validated correct answer and an explanation that teaches the reasoning or process. Diagnostic explanations are kept out of the browser during assessment.
Content records identify SATprep.io-original origin and version/status so revisions can be audited rather than silently replacing reviewed material.
The build currently checks structural issues such as duplicate IDs, invalid answer keys, missing explanations, taxonomy mismatches, missing official-skill coverage, invalid diagnostic plans, and exact overlap between diagnostic and staged practice items.
Automated checks cannot decide whether a passage is nuanced enough, a distractor is psychometrically useful, wording is accessible, or an explanation is pedagogically strong. Those require human editorial judgment.
Before content is promoted for commercial production use, the review workflow is designed to require decisions across several categories:
The review export includes a cryptographic content hash so approval applies to the exact version reviewed. Editing the item changes the hash and requires the new version to be reviewed again.
A diagnostic cannot be credible if its answers are easy to inspect. SATprep.io's secure diagnostic path sends the student only the prompt and choices needed for the current unanswered question. Scoring occurs on the server, and the response does not reveal the answer or explanation during the assessment.
Content correctness and SAT-style alignment do not automatically make a short diagnostic an official-score predictor. Commercial launch should distinguish skill mastery/readiness signals from official SAT or PSAT scores unless a separate, sufficiently rigorous calibration study supports a stronger claim.
Students should use current official College Board practice for official test-interface and full-form experience. SATprep.io's role is to make the skill learning between those official practice experiences more focused and understandable.
