FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Questions about how SATprep.io measures, teaches, and adapts.

SATprep.io separates assessment from instruction, combines multiple sources of skill evidence, and uses practice performance to update what a student should work on next.

Diagnostic and learning

Does the diagnostic tell me whether each answer is right?

No. The initial diagnostic is assessment-only. Responses are saved, but correct/incorrect feedback and explanations are intentionally withheld during the assessment. This helps preserve the diagnostic as a measurement of what the student knows before additional teaching occurs.

What happens during learning and practice?

Practice is designed for teaching. After a response, the student sees whether it was correct, the correct answer, and an explanation of the reasoning, rule, or mathematical process. The resulting performance becomes new evidence for the learning path.

Can I leave a diagnostic and come back later?

The secure diagnostic is designed to save each submitted answer and resume at the next unanswered question rather than starting over. A submitted diagnostic answer cannot be changed afterward.

Prior testing and personalization

Can SATprep.io use scores from another test?

SATprep.io can accept supported assessment-report files and extract usable evidence from known or structured score reports. Prior scores are one input—not the final decision. Current diagnostic and practice performance can confirm or change what the student needs next.

Does SATprep.io treat every kind of score the same way?

No. A content-mastery percentage, percentile, SAT section score, ACT scale score, and other score types are different measurements. The system is designed to preserve native score meaning rather than falsely convert every number into a mastery percentage.

What does “mastery” mean inside SATprep.io?

It is an internal learning signal used to prioritize skills. It is not an official SAT or PSAT scaled score and is not a promise of a particular test-day result.

Question quality and official practice

Where do SATprep.io questions come from?

SATprep.io develops original proprietary questions aligned to the publicly documented SAT Suite skill structure. Official material is used as a specification and benchmark, not copied into the product without an appropriate license.

Does SATprep.io replace official College Board practice tests?

No. Skill-focused instruction and practice should be combined with current official practice so students can experience the real test interface, timing, and adaptive format before test day.

How are questions reviewed?

The content pipeline includes automated taxonomy and answer-key checks plus an independent-review workflow for accuracy, alignment, editorial quality, bias/accessibility, and originality. Commercial content should not be promoted merely because it passes automated checks.

Parents and accounts

What can parents see?

The parent experience is designed to show meaningful progress such as setup/diagnostic status, learning activity, skill strengths and needs, and useful next steps without requiring the parent to supervise each practice problem.

What happens if a student is under 13?

The public signup flow asks age before collecting the child's identity. For an under-13 user, self-registration stops and a parent or guardian must complete the appropriate setup. The final commercial parental-consent and privacy process remains subject to legal/privacy launch review.

SAT, PSAT, and results

Can SATprep.io guarantee a score increase?

No. A responsible prep product can improve the quality and focus of preparation, but it should not promise a particular SAT/PSAT score, admission result, National Merit outcome, or scholarship.

Is SATprep.io affiliated with College Board?

No. SATprep.io is an independent educational product. SAT® and College Board® are trademarks of College Board, which does not endorse or sponsor SATprep.io. PSAT/NMSQT® is a registered trademark jointly owned by College Board and National Merit Scholarship Corporation.
