2026–27 SAT DATES

Choose an SAT date first, then build the study plan backward.

College Board has published eight SAT Weekend administrations for August 2026 through June 2027. Your best preparation timeline depends on your current skill level, school schedule, application timeline, and how much time you can study consistently—not simply on choosing the earliest available test.

College Board states that weekend registration deadlines expire at 11:59 p.m. Eastern Time in the U.S. Students who need to borrow a testing device from College Board must request it earlier—at least 30 days before test day.

How to choose an SAT test date

Start with your real calendar

Mark school exams, sports, travel, performances, application deadlines, and other high-demand weeks. A theoretically ideal date is not useful if the preparation period is unrealistic.

Leave room for more than one attempt if appropriate

Some students prefer a schedule that leaves another administration available later. That can reduce pressure on any single test date without assuming that every student needs multiple attempts.

Use a baseline before setting the workload

A student with a narrow set of skill gaps needs a different plan from a student who needs foundational instruction across several domains.

Protect the final weeks

The last part of a plan should include realistic practice under test conditions, error review, and schedule stability rather than a sudden increase in study volume.

What about SAT School Day?

For the 2026–27 school year, College Board lists a fall in-school testing window from October 1–30, 2026 for SAT School Day, PSAT/NMSQT, and PSAT 8/9. The spring 2027 window for SAT School Day and PSAT 10 is March 1–April 30, 2027. Schools and districts manage registration for in-school administrations.

If your school offers SAT School Day, include that date in your planning before deciding whether a weekend administration is also useful.

Build your study timeline backward from test day

A practical plan begins with the test date, then divides the available weeks into four jobs: identify the baseline, teach weak skills, practice and reinforce those skills, and finally rehearse under realistic timing. The amount of time in each phase should change with the student's evidence.

For a detailed framework, use the SAT study plan guide. If you already have a score report, the SAT score guide explains how to turn that evidence into more specific priorities.
